For today, my gift to you is dedicated writing time, but first I want to check in on the readings. Did Chapters 8 and 9 make sense? Was Chapter 10 a useful refresher for anyone?

For our attendance question, tell us about how you like to share your writing with others. What would you want to try for our sharing workshop on Wednesday?

If you haven't written your biography or "About Me" section yet, you can start by answering these questions in complete sentences:

  1. Who are you?

  2. What do you do and why do you do it?

  3. Where are you located or where did you come from?

  4. When do you intend to graduate (if you haven't answered already)?

  5. What makes you likeable? Do you have a three-legged rescue you take for daily walks? Craft your own brand of salt dough earrings? Spend most of your free time reading about how to become a centenarian?

Once you've conquered the biography, I recommend tackling the cover letter. Remember that pages 414-15 in our book give a great example, and I shared my cover letter with you in the previous post.

After our writing time, we'll spend a few minutes cutting fluff. Using pages 217-19 in Technical Communication, let's see what unnecessary words we can cut from what you wrote.

For homework, have your Writing Project I materials ready to go (website, cover letter, and email, that is). We'll share our drafts with each other for feedback.
